Impossible not to present the ready-to-wear designer brand CÔME – particularly at this time, with the Paris Fashion Week going on.
The brand CÔME was born from the combination of an artistic sensibility and a pragmatic spirit. Its creators, em>Clémence and Matthieu Dru, a brother and sister passionate about fashion and graphics, have chosen to propose a universe built around the theme of duality.
To give a little explanation about the name of this unusual brand: CÔME is a unisex name derived from the Greek word Kosmos. It represents not only the universe but also harmony.
This dualism is ubiquitous in the works crafted and designed by Clémence and presented by Matthieu: reversible, bicolored, with superimposed motifs, and symmetry in the form – everything in these creations is doubled and self-reflexive.
The duo makes clothing in their own image: androgynous femininity, modern classicism, graphic flexibility and careless sophistication.
With CÔME it is strictly speaking not a case of collections, and the ‘Éditions’ are not collections. CÔME does not follow the seasons but seeks to constantly create new models to complement its timeless creations. No mass production for this beautiful and creative brand: its products are made one at a time, in a quest for impeccable quality. The brand is ‘made in Paris’, attached to a new wave of unique young designers who have a desire to perpetuate a tradition and to honor the recognized expertise of French artisans.
Here is a little flashback to previous ‘Éditions’, before we unveil the minimalist project presented in this fall of 2015:
CÔME had chosen to focus its first winter Edition around blue. A blue worked in all its forms.

Following this episode, the creator, Clémence, with the support of her brother, chose to make a second, more colorful ‘Édition’, under the name Recreation. A change of mood came with this poetic ‘Édition’, whose colors shifted towards pastels.

As to materials, organza and silk join with raw faded denim to offer amazing models. The look is airy but the cuts are structured and androgynous. You will find the CÔME signature through the parallel lines or perpendiculars that cut across each other or are juxtaposed to ultimately build a garment which can emphasize a feminine silhouette in an elegant and original way.
A contrast that is found in the spirit of the ad campaign, shot by photographer Cecy Young. Two worlds which are total opposites meet here: dance and football.
The romantic and feminine silhouettes confront the raw concrete background, which is masculine and unexpected.
