- Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
Clémence Dru: I am the creator of the ready-to-wear brand CÔME. I have a master’s degree in marketing from ESMOD Paris. After doing that, I decided to go and study in Florence at Polymoda. It was a real opportunity for me, it allowed me to open my mind and approach fashion in a different way. Together with Matthieu I launched CÔME in October 2014. We’ve come quite a long way since then, and I did not expect that it would all happen so fast.
Matthieu Dru: I manage the marketing and communication side for CÔME even though my sister, Clémence, also likes me to take notice of her creations. We are very close. I graduated with a degree in economics from the Audencia business school in Paris.
- Where does your interest in fashion come from?
Clémence Dru: I knew from an early age that I wanted to work in an artistic field, and fashion just seemed the obvious one. As soon as I graduated, I immediately wanted to get started.
Matthieu Dru: I had the entrepreneurial spirit, and fashion interested me, so I quickly paid attention to what was Clémence was doing. At first we thought of setting up a fashion truck and then we opted for a more traditional form, and we decided to become this duo around CÔME.
- What would you say is the guiding principle of CÔME?
Clémence Dru: Harmony and confidentiality. Matthieu Dru: I’d say the same thing and I’d also add: duality, certainly.
- What are your inspirations?
Clémence Dru: The urban lifestyle, and the world around me in all its aspects.
- What is your favorite model from the previous ‘Éditions’ and the minimalist wardrobe?
Clémence Dru: I would choose the wrap dress Mahé which is our best seller, which we vary according to the seasons. But it’s hard to choose.
Matthieu Dru: I don’t have one in particular.
- Where can we find your creations?
Clémence Dru: We have chosen not to be present at this time in physical outlets but to sell only via our e-shop with a few pop-up stores at appropriate moments.
- What are your future projects?
Clémence Dru: We want to do things slowly but surely. Continue to make confidential clothes that appeal to girls, and to urban and dynamic women. We are delighted to satisfy our clients from 15 to 75 years of age, who are all passionate about fashion.
- And why not turn to men in the long term too?
Matthieu Dru: To continue the launch of our minimalist project based around the Mahé wrap dress and the ten ambassadors that we have chosen. We are very pleased with these new collaborations. We will try to keep production in Paris as long as possible.
