CORALIE MARABELLE

  • Would you introduce yourself in a few words ?
I’m 28 and I live in Paris. My career path has been pretty atypical.
I did a Masters in business then an internship at Hermès, more specifically at the women’s ready-to wear studio at the time Jean-Paul Gaultier was the artistic director.
After this experience, I entered a competition that won me a scholarship at the Berçot Studio. Then I did an internship at Alexander McQueen in the ready-to-wear department and at the artisan line at the Maison Martin Margiela . Right after, Alexander McQueen hired me and I went back to London, again at the women’s ready-to-wear studio. A rich experience, very rewarding.
This year, I decided to work on my own project. I presented my collection at the Hyères festival where I won the Prix du Public (People’s award).
  • What does this interest for fashion come from ?
Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved playing with clothes, and then when I turned 8, I learned how to sew and it soon became my favorite hobby.
  • What are your inspirations ?

My sources of inspiration come a lot from art, design, photography and the haute couture designers’ work.

  • What is favorite look of the F/W 2014 collection ?

The first look of the show (Editor’s note: ref. look 1 in the article on her)

  • What are your future projects ?
Lots of projects in the pipeline: a line of jewelry at the end of November and a nice collaboration for the winter 2015. Also, I’m working with Duvelleroy on the artistic direction for next season.
