- Would you introduce yourself in a few words?
I am Alice Bandini and I work with LE WHITE, a concept-store based in Paris. I was born in Nice in 1988. I live and work in Paris. I studied at ENSAPC, Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy (2009-2012).
Since 2012 I pursue my work as a plastic artist alongside working with La Réserve des arts, a creative and recycling platform for the arts. I’ve been working in a collective workshop Le Wonder, located in St Ouen for a year now.
- Where does this interest for art and particularly sculpture come from?
Art is a language; sculpture one of the languages I speak.
- What is your works’ operative word in your mind?
Protean.
- What are your inspirations?
In art, they are very different: Kurt Schwitters, the group Art orienté (oriented Art), Piranese, Thomas Hirschorn to name just a few, but also in other areas: Hussein Chalayan, the Museums of Natural History, the
Creatures from the Abyss, Mythologies…
- What is your favorite piece currently exhibited at the Splendens Gallery?
Everything! It has become such a harmonious ensemble, with such different pieces, white (the concept itself) unites them and it’s become, little by little a space to feel a real experience.
- What are your future projects?
To continue the concept of rooms with Le White because I want to make several more: they illustrate a story I invented, the story of a fictitious discovery of archeological diggings.
And soon, to make a work in situation at the Wonder workshop for the open-door days, mainly to get my hands dirty…
